At Torfield, our Computing curriculum is designed to equip pupils with the digital knowledge, skills, and understanding they need to thrive in a digital world. Rooted in each pupil’s individual stage of development, our curriculum provides structured, engaging, and meaningful learning experiences that support both academic progress and real-world application.
Ensuring our pupils are safe and responsible users of technology is fundamental to our computing curriculum. As a result, online safety is not taught in an isolated unit. Instead, our preventative approach sees every term begin with pupils being taught a strand of Project Evolve. Beyond this, our curriculum delivers three key strands across each academic year: computing systems, creating media, and programming.
Pupils are given regular opportunities to practise problem-solving, logical thinking, and creative expression through computing tasks that are accessible and relevant to their interests. From coding simple programs to creating digital content and understanding data, pupils are encouraged to explore technology in ways that are both structured and exploratory.
We prepare pupils to engage with the digital world confidently, safely, and with curiosity. Computing at Torfield enables our learners to express themselves, collaborate with others, and develop the foundational skills needed for future learning, work, and life.
