GONG HEI FAT CHOY! Our children have been having a wonderful time learning about and celebrating Chinese New Year as part of our programme of activities to promote spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. The dragon arrived at EYC this morning, and the children thoroughly enjoyed dancing with him in celebration, it then visited Croft Road for a special assembly where every class was given the opportunity to join in with a dragon dance. Today marked the culmination of a week of special lessons. In art we have been making and decorating Chinese lanterns, music lessons have explored Chinese compositions and every child has been able to use develop their handwriting through writing their own name in Chinese script. We even had a special lunch of Sweet and Sour Chicken, Veggie noodles and prawn crackers which went down a treat, as did the fortune cookies. A special thanks to Miss Daniell and Miss Tang, two of our very talented TAs, for all their hard work supporting the staff and children with this work.
