This term children at Torfield have been using their PE lessons to develop their knowledge of dance. To celebrate and share everything they have learned we held a dance showcase so that each class could perform the routines they have been creating in their lessons.
The event was planned and organised by Miss Booth, our Learning Leader for Outdoor and Physical Education, who also helped each class prepare for their performance. For the showcase our hall was transformed into a performance space and the Year Six pupils took on special jobs, acting as ushers to collect tickets and distributing the programmes they had made for the event.
This showcase was a wonderful opportunity for children and staff to see the progress pupils at Torfield make in this important aspect of PE. The showcase started with Year One children performing a Gruffalo themed dance to explore moving at different levels and finished with Year Six pupils who had devised their own routine drawing upon a range of dance moves.
Seeing the children performing their routines was a real joy, and this dance showcase looks set to be a regular feature of Torfield’s calendar of events.
